Kylo was probably the better star pilot than Jacen, but when it comes to force powers and lightsaber dueling Jacen is tied with the greatest jedi of them all that is Luke Skywalker. Kylo wanted to be just like Vader but Jacen wanted to do what Vader couldn't and he realized the mistakes that Vader made. While Jacen had some original misgivings by seeing himself as a Sith lord he realized that it was the correct path for himself. Kylo Ren seems way more unsure of himself than Jacen did. Jacen Solo was my absolute favorite character, the troubled teenager that was such an idealist that then became the hero, than the outcast that never really fit in the order when he came back from his odyssey. He had so many powers and became a true master with a lightsaber. To this end his powers were so expansive that even Luke Skywalker was concerned. In his mind the only way to end the suffering was to become a Sith so powerful that he could restore order to the galaxy. He was an empathetic person, who saw the suffering in the world that continued no matter the regime in charge. Jacen was a person who lived through consistent war.
